Authentic Mexican. Large selection, great taste. Something for everyone with all levels of spiciness. Beautiful new decor. Very good value for your money. Highly recommended!

Really nice place. I have been here several times with many different people and everyone has always been impressed. The restaurant and bathroom are always spotless and the food is really good and authentic. The staff is very friendly and attentive and food and drinks come out quickly. I have never had a bad meal or service here.

This place is horrible. Service was slow at best. Waitress seemed more interested in watching tv than waiting on us. Food was not good at all. Overpriced!

Small place. Very clean. Authentic Mexican food. My food was very good. I ordered shrimp enchiladas with the optional hot sauce. (NOT FOR ROOKIES) I crave hot food and this was my first Mexican meal that I did not have to add hot sauce to. Perfect. They also serve alcohol and have a small bar. The prices were very reasonable. I will deffinantly eat there again.

Friendly staff, let me order off the menu to get carnitas. The meat was tender, though not seasoned at all, but, it was still good, all in all.

Stopped in here tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Normally we drive all the way to Churchville for Mexican food, but not anymore. I cant believe we have not tried this place before. So inexpensive and everything was fresh. Excellent service. Very authentic Mexican food. My husband had a burrito and loved it. His mother makes homemade tortillas and he suspected the tortillas here were homemade - the waitress confirmed that they were not - they were just that fresh. I had chicken doblados and they were great. They served really good fresh salsa and warm chips as an app. I had a lime margarita and it was amazing. We will be coming here again and often!

The food we had was delicious, Torta was fresh and tasty steak was flavorful and tender, good roll. Tamales (chicken) were very good, but I love tamales period. Steak Doblados were fresh and Excellant first time I eve ate them. Horchata tasted fresh and homemade with a dash of ground cinnamon on top... and sweet the easy we like it. Thank you ,we will be back.

Food is excellent, especially the dobladas. They serve chips and a sweet salsa when you arrive, sets the meal off right!

Personally I love the food here. The other Mexican joint on Route 40 closed so now this is the only gig in town. I have never had a issue with the service there. The only thing I didn't like off the menu were the fajitas.... too dry.

Tiny little place. I swear the food is frozen. Everything is way too uniform to be freshly made. I don't know where the heck these other yelpers have eaten in the past to cause them to rate this place "the best" and her "chef husband" loves it but it's not good at all. Very disappointing. If you think this is authentic Mexican food I feel very sorry for you.

A very clean and quiet restaurant. Server was very nice and polite. Loved the painted booth backs and tables. Ordered the steak chimichanga, it was covered in the typical salty cheese sauce. Food was hot, but found a toothpick in my food. Probably used to hold it together during frying, not a huge deal didn't complain. But all in all will be back. Stellar fresh chips and salsa.

If you're expecting La Tolteca, you will be disappointed. Food and menu resemble what you would expect, but the flavor and quality of the dishes do not. Still for being one of the few decent dine-in restaurants around, this place isn't bad. They've upgraded their tables which are very nice. Service is still slow but servers are friendly. Haven't had a bad meal here. Don't try to go when they are busy, there is limited seating.

Food was OK. A few of the items in the dishes we ordered seemed really fresh, while it was very obvious where canned products or other less than fresh ingredients were used. Only one server who sat watching the television while we dinned. Which made it quite awkward when you needed a refill. Oh, and stay away from the pre-made margaritas and daqs. Nothing but sugar and drink mix. I wish Ramsey would stop by here and help these folks out! I would love some great Mexican food in 21911.

The previous reviews were pretty much spot on. Service is slow. Make sure you visit when you are not hungry because by the time you get your food, you will be..... The steak did seem like a chopped cheesesteak meat. That was disappointing, but the chicken was pretty good. After eating at La Tolteca for years, this is a hard place to swallow.

Making my fourth visit here this afternoon. Never had a bad experience. Good food, good friendly service. I have never had an issue with slow service.

Food is decent, service was decent, drinks were what you would expect (mixes, not fresh). I would eat here again, but it's not a destination.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
